Importance Of Counseling And Counselors In School

While considering the overall development of your child’s academic performance, there is a multitude of factors that influence vital decision making. Leading among them is the importance given to Guidance & Counselling.

Why we need Guidance & Counselling in School:

In a world where growing exposure to mass media and other social factors, makes it difficult to monitor your child’s development at all times. Schools now share the onus of mentoring children. The requirement of a counsellor at school level has become a mandatory facility that educational institutions ought to offer so as to please the parent stakeholder community.

Typically, the role of a counsellor is to work with students who develop behavioural issues, have trouble keeping pace in the class, need a little extra support and personal attention. In addition to this, it is also the role of a counsellor to work cohesively with school administration, management, educators, and parents to ensure healthy school and a class environment free of bullying or other such activities.

According to studies on child development, a few words of encouragement or motivation from an approachable figure such as a school counsellor or mentor aid students in correcting deviant behaviour. It also helps in better learning and assists in the development of a healthy personality fit for the society at large.

This ensures that the latest technique and method of counselling implemented by the professionals would help in achieving better overall development of the child’s personality.
